2021: 4G drone announcement

In early August 2021, Verizon, Parrot and Skyward announced cooperation aimed at creating the first unmanned aerial vehicle connected to the 4G LTE network. This allows you to control drones from anywhere.

Parrot ANAFI Ai will be the first and only serial drone connected to the Verizon 4G LTE network. The connection is provided exclusively to Skyward subscribers at no additional cost. The companies plan to establish a new standard of communication with fully open source, an autonomous photogrammetric system and a new level of cybersecurity.

Released the world's first drone with 4G Parrot ANAFI Ai support

The Skyward Connected Drone Solution with ANAFI Ai from Parrot allows you to perform complex tasks in photogrammetry, mapping, modeling, inspection, geodesy and public safety. In addition to the ability to connect to the Verizon 4G LTE, the new drones are equipped with a unique omnidirectional obstacle bypass system, providing the quality of 48 MP images and 4K video at a speed of 60 frames per second.

The built-in security element Parrot ANAFI Ai protects the 4G LTE connection between the drone and the user device. Parrot streaming software is adapted to 4G to quickly optimize video resolution and frame rate according to network quality.

Users will be able to activate connection to 4G LTE exclusively in the mobile application Skyward InFlight. After activation via Skyward, the Verizon 4G LTE connection provides an uninterrupted backup connection to the flight controller in case of interference or interruption of communication. This allows data to be transmitted in near-real-time mode, remotely deploy drones and "accurately, reliably and safely" control the flight beyond line of sight.[1]
