On September 22, 2015 the Percona company announced product output for the free database — Percona Server for MongoDB Percona Server[1].
Percona Server for MongoDB is characterized by an expanded alternative of MongoDB Community Edition with full compatibility and additional opportunities from the corporate version. Among the main features of this solution developers select:
- inclusion in the structure of MongoDB of two additional engines: PerconaFT and RocksDB (development of Facebook) — in addition to standard (MMAP v1 and WiredTiger);
- the Percona TokuBackup tool (it is earlier known as TokuDB Hot Backup) for backup of databases and technology of fractal trees PerconaFT (is earlier known as Tokutek Fractal Tree) accelerating different transactions with data in tables;
- plug-in from MongoDB Advanced Enterprise Edition for external SASL authentication: supports authentication through OpenLDAP and the Active Directory;
- plug-in from MongoDB Advanced Enterprise Edition for audit of logs: allows to trace and request data on addressing the database.
The source code Percona Server for MongoDB extends on the terms of free licenses (GNU AGPL v3.0 and Apache License 2.0), is published on GitHub.
