Percona XtraBackup

Percona XtraBackup - Software for creation of backup copies DBMS MySQL of any versions from any vendor.

The product Percona XtraBackup gives the chance to make the complete backup copy of a DB without resorting to blocking of tables and setup of replication. Such opportunity is reached by record of changes which are made to a DB from the moment of the beginning of creation of the backup copy, in the course of a backup of the transaction log file, with the subsequent record of these changes in the created backup copy. It allows not to stop MySQL and not to block.

Use of Percona XtraBackup (2013)

2016: Release of Percona XtraBackup 2.4

On February 24, 2016 there was a release of the free product Percona XtraBackup 2.4^[1].

the providing means for "hot" reservation of MySQL and other options of this DBMS, including Percona Server and MariaDB. Percona Server and Percona XtraBackup are available to free download and are distributed under the free license GPL.
