2022: Announcement
In November 2022, Zimmer Biomet announced the release of the Persona OsseoTi tibia implant for cement-free knee replacement.
The Persona OsseoTi is an addition to the Persona Knee System. It is a porous version of Persona's anatomical tibia with Zimmer Biomet's OsseoTi porous metal technology, which uses anatomical data combined with 3D printing technology to create a structure directly mimicking the architecture of human undone, or spongy, bone. This material, in combination with a keeled construction, provides stable initial and biological fixation.
According to developers from Zimmer Biomet Holdings, it allows surgeons to better meet the needs of their patients by offering a comprehensive single system solution for cement-free or cement prosthetics.
{{quote 'The projected increase in arthritis prevalence in young, active patients has made cementless total knee arthroplasty an increasingly necessary option for surgeons! In addition to the spike-keel design, Persona OsseoTi Keel Tibia offers the added convenience of a cementable option with the same bone preparation as the cement-free option, so surgeons can accept, said Baptist Health Orthopedic Care orthopedic surgeon and clinical assistant professor at Florida International University Charles Lawrie. }} Key features of the Persona OsseoTi include anatomical tibia to reduce micro-mobility and optimal kostiі coating and 3D printed porous OsseoTi technology for biological fixation. Persona OsseoTi Keel Tibia is also supplemented with a cementable implant variant to provide seamless versatility for the surgeon during the procedure.[1]
