2024: Product Announcement
At the end of June 2024, Endiatx introduced the PillBot robotic smart tablet, equipped with cameras, sensors and wireless communications, which will allow doctors to examine the gastrointestinal tract with unprecedented accuracy instead of gastroscopy.
The current PillBot prototype has entered the clinical trial phase. The smart tablet measures 13 by 30 mm and is capable of transmitting high-resolution video at 2.3 megapixels per second, with the developers planning to quadruple the video quality. In addition, the tablet is equipped with its own propulsion system: tiny micromotors and propellers allow PillBot to move around the intestines under the supervision of a doctor who only needs a simple portable controller.
The front of PillBot looks like a regular tablet camera, "explained one of the developers. - It is equipped with LEDs for lighting, a good camera and provides communication with the outside world. The rear of the PillBot is three DC electric motors with propellers oriented so that the tablet can be shuffled in three-dimensional space. |
PillBot distinguishes non-invasiveness and ease of use from traditional endoscopy. Unlike traditional endoscopic procedures, which require sedation and a visit to a medical facility, PillBot can be used from the comfort of your home. Endiatx's ultimate goal is to win regulatory approval and bring smart tablets to market by early 2026. The developers hope PillBot tablets will be affordable, and perhaps even sell over the counter, which will completely change the field of gastroenterology, making diagnostic procedures more affordable, convenient and cost-effective.[1]
