In March 2024, Plastilin announced a platform that, according to the developers, reduces the cycle of plant breeding from 8-12 to 2-4 years. This solution, using artificial intelligence algorithms, helps to select exactly those samples that can transmit the most valuable genes to the next generation - resistance to pathogens, adaptation to drought and high yield.
As reported in Telegram the channel Skolkovo"" (Plastilin is a resident of this technopark), AI the system allows you to "predict" the field characteristics of legumes, helping crop producers to make the right decisions about their market value at the early stage of selection.
The company notes that the Plastilin system creates new and improves existing plant varieties using modern biotechnological and bioinformatic approaches. The project includes the digitalization of the selection process and the use of its own software for predicting phenotypes, compiling schemes for the selection and zoning of leguminous crops based on genomic data. The process of genomic editing of agricultural cultures and the complete cycle of obtaining seeds of their own selection of higher reproductions is also organized
Plastilin has passed the Fast Track program, according to which startups receive mentoring support and the status of a Skolkovo resident under an accelerated procedure. According to Dmitry Medvedev, General Director of Plastilin, Skolkovo's infrastructure is convenient for launching small industries and is interesting for a startup in terms of support in the formation and protection of intellectual property.[1]
