2020: Start of Poland Business Harbour - the state project on enticement of the Belarusian IT specialists to Poland

On September 11, 2020 the Polish government started the Poland Business Harbour state program directed to enticement of the Belarusian IT specialists. The initiative represents the package of measures directed to simplification of moving to Poland.

Warsaw pays special attention on the Belarusian startups. The Polish authorities promise them work in the best co-workings of the country and also a possibility of participation in programs of development and grants from 1 to 4 million zloties (about 20-80 million rubles). Besides, promise families of employees the help in studying of language and the organization of school education. Specialists also have the right to take part in the grant program.

Individuals and the companies from Belarus can expect simplification of contacts with local government authorities or special economic zones which actively participate in preparation of the offer for the moved employees and their families, creating time offices and premises … Security, the potential for development supported with stable economy and reliable partners — the Belarusian entrepreneurs will find all this in Poland — it is said on the website of the government of Poland.

The offer of the Polish government first of all is addressed to the companies which wrote the open letter to the president of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko earlier with the requirement to stop violence in the country and to release political prisoners. Otherwise they threatened to transfer the business from the republic. The letter was signed by more than 300 representatives of the IT industry.

In September, 2020 the director of the Latvian agency of investments and development (LAIR) Caspar Rozhkalns told that more than 100 Belarusian companies (most of them have relations to IT) thought of complete or partial transfer of the business to Latvia. Local authorities developed instructions for the Belarusian entrepreneurs about necessary steps for business transfer.[1]
