2020: The announcement of Prevena Restor - a system for healing of numerous wounds
At the beginning of December, 2020 3M submitted the new Prevena Restor system for healing of multiple wounds under the influence of negative pressure. This system can be imposed for a period of up to 14 days with change of a bandage each 7 days. At the same time the disposable bandages which are included in the package are available both in small, and in big sizes that allows to protect the struck soft fabrics around a wound and to use a system at a large number of damages.
Disposable bandages are connected to the therapeutic device Prevena Plus which creates negative pressure and by that mechanically pulls together edges of a wound, drains it and creates a wet environment for its healing. The company reports that a new system reduces hypostasis, helps to delete infected detrit, stabilizes a wound and reduces time necessary for recovery. Thus, a system can be applied at wide postoperative wounds to fast formation of a hem and removal of seams.
The executive medical director 3M Ronald Silverman explained that use of large bandages allows to make salutary therapeutic impact on all of the area of surgical intervention, and not just on area of a section. It is especially useful at orthopedic, plastic, reconstructive and vascular surgical interventions.
In particular, a system can be used at fractures of the lower extremities. The arrangement of these changes and the need for auxiliary intervention transactions usually lead to severe hypostasis before surgical intervention. This hypostasis creates tension around a section which can lead to an infection and discrepancy of seams, to demand additional intervention or even to threaten long-term recovery. The Prevena Restor system allows to reduce considerably hypostasis, accelerates healing and provides recovery of all functions.[1]
