2021: Announcement Profemur Gladiator HA Collared Stem - systems for complete hip prosthetics
At the end of February 2021, the American developer of orthopedic devices and technologies MicroPort Orthopaedics released Profemur Gladiator HA Collared Stem and Profemur Gladiator Cemented Collared Stem rods for hip endoplasty. The Gladiator Hip Stem System is now fully equipped and can be used for complete hip prosthetics or for treating patients with femoral head fractures.
All Profemur Gladiator Hip Stems, including the previously released Profemur Gladiator Plasma Stem, are designed for primary hip replacement surgery and have a three-wedge conical shape. The femoral rods of MicroPort Orthopaedics are available with a reduced lateral arm, which allows the use of a tissue preservation technique. In addition to three-point fixation, this rod shape also provides medial and lateral contact with the cortical bone. Note here that horizontal grooves are designed to distribute load forces more evenly while vertical grooves contribute to rotation stability.
According to the developers, the rods of the Profemur line are universal and allow surgeons to meet the needs of a wide variety of patients using a single set of tools. President of MicroPort Orthopaedics Benny Hagag noted:
We have created a universal customizable endoprosthesis system that allows surgeons to use the preferred surgery technique depending on the needs of the patient. Adapting to tissue preservation techniques allows you to simplify preoperative planning, achieve excellent operation results and faster recovery than with the use of conventional systems.[1] |
