2024: Scandal - food kills dogs

In early January 2024, a scandal erupted around the popular Pro Plan feeds produced by the American company Purina. Dozens of reports began to appear that this food kills pets - mainly dogs.

Information about incidents is published by users of the TikTok service and the social network Facebook (owned by Meta, which is recognized as an extremist organization; activities on the territory of the Russian Federation are prohibited). Dogs experience seizures, vomiting and diarrhea after consuming Pro Plan food, according to these reports. Some pets die. In particular, in one of the Facebook groups, almost 200 posts were published that pets - 151 dogs and 46 cats - fell ill after receiving Pro Plan feed. Of these, more than 50 animals allegedly died.

Scandal erupted over popular Purina feeds

Concerned pet owners have called for a boycott of Purina products. Rachel Fusaro, who has approximately 275 thousand subscribers on TikTok, spoke about the publication of videos on the network saying that hundreds of dogs fell ill due to Pro Plan feeds. These videos have gained millions of views. Fusaro, whose website states that she has a bachelor's degree in dietetics, does not directly confirm problems with the named foods, but says she would "personally stop" using Purina's products.

In turn, Purina calls information about diseases and deaths of animals after consuming Pro Plan rumors. The company claims that the messages that appeared on the Internet "do not correspond to reality."

There is absolutely no evidence to suggest that there are problems with any particular product. As a company that feeds more than 100 million cats and dogs each year, we never risk the health of pets, says Purina.[1]
