P-Storage is a software-defined solution that combines server disk space into a distributed, fault-tolerant, scalable data store.
R-Storage and the R-Virtualization virtualization platform are part of the single distribution kit Rosplatforma. The software does not require special server hardware and can be installed on any servers already available or purchased from a preferred supplier. Also, the Rosplatforma software can be preinstalled by partners on their own or specially selected server models to create ready-made hardware and software systems.
Solution Benefits
R-Storage offers significant system savings data storage for high performance and resiliency by consolidating internal server drives into a single distributed storage system where resiliency is achieved by replicating data between servers.
High performance is provided by proprietary data distribution algorithms and the ability to use SSDs to cache read/write operations or as a separate storage layer.
The "P-storage" architecture is designed to lose any physical server or group of servers as a whole, and not just a single disk. All data is stored in multiple copies. At the same time, "P-storage" never stores more than one copy on the physical server/rack/room.
"P-Storage" allows:
- Connect virtual machines and "Rosplatforma" containers to a datastore optimized for hosting virtual environments
- 160-640% better performance than traditional hypervisors in LAMP,
- Provide high availability servers,
- create block, iSCSI-, NFS-, S3-/object targets for hosts,
- Eliminate server downtime due to hardware failures
- Ensure uninterrupted server migration and replication.
The solution eliminates the use of expensive SAN arrays by combining local disks installed in separate cluster nodes into a reliable data storage that:
- Low CPU and memory consumption and works on the same virtualization nodes in parallel
- allows you to configure various fault tolerance and high availability mechanisms, such as replication (2:1; 3:2) and noise-resistant coding (3 + 2; 5 + 2; 7 + 2; 17 + 3);
- Scales to 32 PB
- supports SSD logging, caching, and tiering (TIERing).
Russian development
- R-Storage and R-virtualization"" products are included in the Russian Register; ON Ministry of Digital Development
- resistance to sanctions (sales to Crimea are possible);
- local support of all levels in Russian.
Performance
The single distribution kit "Rosplatforma" together with the software-defined data storage "R-Storage" includes "R-Virtualization" - a hyper-converged server virtualization platform. Virtual machines in R-Virtualization are controlled by the KVM hypervisor supplemented by the developers of Rosplatforma. In comparison with the basic implementation of KVM (part of CentOS), the performance of P-Virtualization was 30-40% better, and the placement density was up to two times higher.
At the same time, the speed of applications most often depends on the performance of the disk system (in most cases, the speed of random read/write operations is the most critical, the speed of consecutive I/O operations less affects the operation of the system). Comparative testing of the software-defined disk array "P-Storage" and free CEPH storage was carried out on the same hardware with the same types of load. During the high load test, it was assumed that it was impossible to use the cache due to the large amount of data that users access.
Comparative test results can be seen in the charts below.

2025: OpenYard Server Compatibility
R-Platform LLC (Rosplatforma company) and OpenYard on January 15, 2025 announced the full compatibility of the hyperconverged platform based on R-Virtualization and R-Storage products, including software versions certified in FSTEC, with servers from the corporate OpenYard line. Read more here.
2020: Red OS Compatibility
The companies Rosplatforma and Red Soft, within the framework of the partnership, tested for compatibility of their products. The developers confirmed the full and uninterrupted operation of software complexes on the RED OS operating system (manufactured by RED SOFT) in the virtualization environment based on the R-Virtualization and R-Storage products (manufactured by Rosplatforma). This was announced on May 15, 2020 by the Red Soft company. Read more here.

2017
As of November 2017, this solution Rosplatforma involves achieving significant savings by combining internal into disks servers a single distributed system, where fault tolerance is achieved by replication data between servers. The R-Storage architecture is designed to cope with the loss of any physical server and even a group of servers in its entirety, and not just a single disk.
