In mid-January 2021, the American company Strados Labs introduced its wearable system for monitoring lung sounds in real time. Previously, the device, called RESP, has already been used in clinical studies, where it was used to study the correlation between auscultatory data and various treatments, vital signs and the patient's impressions. Physicians will now be able to leverage RESP's capabilities to monitor patients directly. In addition, RESP is supposed to help scientists assess the effects COVID-19 on the lungs.

RESP attaches to the chest and, like a stethoscope, allows you to listen to normal sounds of the lungs, as well as wheezing and crepitation. Sounds are recorded and stored in the cloud in accordance with HIPAA requirements so that doctors can access them at any time. At the same time, the system suppresses most of the insignificant noise and monitors certain trends in the sounds of the lungs.
