RSK of mini-DPC

Product
The name of the base system (platform): RSK of the Tornado
Developers: RSK Technologies
Technology: Supercomputer

I-SCALARE created in 2010 within a grant of the Government of the Russian Federation (150 million rubles) has the supercomputer of new generation of the class "RSK of Mini-DPC" developed by the Russian group RSK based on the new Intel Xeon processors E5-2690 and architecture of "RSK of the Tornado" today. The development director of corporate projects of Intel in Russia and the CIS countries Nikolay Mester and the CEO of RSK Technologies company (it is included into RSK group) Moscow Alexander noted that after the upgrade which is carried out in 2012 the peak capacity of the supercomputer reached 41.57 Tflops and it entered the twenty of the most highly productive in Russia. The cluster consists of 112 computing nodes, each of which contains two eight-nuclear Intel Xeon processors E5-2690 (in total 224 processors, 1792 cores). RAM of each node is 64 Gbytes, in the amount it is 7.1 Tbyte. Capacity of a storage system – 10 Tbyte, a communication network use the high-speed Infiniband QDR interface. The basic clock rate of processors – 2.9 GHz, however thanks to the liquid cooling system developed by RSK the Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 technology implemented in the processor ensures it almost full-time employment at a frequency of 3.3 GHz.

The solution based on architecture of "RSK of the Tornado" is distinguished by high compactness (all cluster is located in two rack cabinets), reliability, scalability and energy efficiency. The indicator of PUE (the relation of the general energy consumption to energy consumption of the IT equipment) – less than 1.2, it means that no more than 17% of the consumed electric power are spent for cooling. Computing efficiency of a cluster in the LINPACK test – more than 90%.
