"Raidix Rain Elbrus" is a software-defined storage system (SDS).
2018: Announcement
"The institute of electronic managing machines of I.S. Brook" (enters into Avtomatika concern of State Corporation Rostec) and Raidix company presented the distributed solution for data storage of "Raidix Rain Elbrus". It was developed with assistance of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
The software-defined storage system (SDS) of "Raidix Rain Elbrus" is intended for deployment on the domestic server platforms "Elbrus 4.4" based on Elbrus-4C microprocessors. The solution allows to integrate local disk storage modules of servers in a uniform failover cluster of storage, with centralized operation and a possibility of horizontal scaling.
Development is intended to solve problems of data storage for the enterprises of medium and large business, public institutions and corporations, providing high rates of performance, fault tolerance and effective use of space, INEUM and Raidix stated.
The patented Erasure Coding technologies used in Raidix Rain allow to receive performance comparable with the mirrored configurations. It concerns both accidental, and consecutive loading. At the same time the set level of fault tolerance is provided and considerably formatted capacity increases, and overheads make no more than 30% of crude capacity of storage. Optimization of a program code for involvement of all opportunities of microprocessor architecture Elbrus is performed.
The main scenarios of use of Raidix Rain Elbrus technology include databases, public and private clouds, virtual infrastructures, the distributed storage of large volume (backup copies, archives, file storage, object storage, these video surveillances, media storage) and analytics of Big Data.
Transfer of "Raidix Rain Elbrus" is in the long term planned for the computing platform based on Elbrus-8C microprocessors.
As noted, the Russian hardware-software solution allows customers to reduce the cost of service of IT infrastructure in a public sector, to take advantage of local technical support at the due level of data protection and information security.
