The Russian company "Raidix" and vendor of the HGST hardware (brand of Western Digital) developed the complete solution for video surveillance and video analytics. DWH of Raidix Video Surveillance is intended for data storage with a high density on the normal server hardware. With its help the high level of reliability, low cost of data storage with guaranteed high performance of a read and write in the multithreaded mode is provided.
Video surveillance systems impose increased requirements to resources of DWH and media servers for work of analytical software. According to standards of the industry Raidix pays special attention to performance.
Raidix Video Surveillance can process in parallel hundreds of video flows and save integrity of large volumes of data, at the same time peak capacity can reach 40 GB / page. Thus, a system is ready to processing and storage of video flows of high resolution from VGA to Full HD. Such characteristics can be necessary for municipal services or law enforcement agencies in cases of emergency situations or at investigation of crimes.
At the same time the storage system of Raidix supports work in Active-Active cluster mode "from a box", without use of external components. High performance of storage systems on read operations and data writing is reached when using the RAID 7.3 and RAID N+M configurations and supported in the mode of failure of drives and at reconstruction of arrays.
The high-performance interfaces excluding bottlenecks at synchronization of a cache are applied to maintenance of a cache coherency (the accessibility of several processors to one area of memory). The cache is protected from power failures due to use of additional SPS modules.
The technology of anticipatory reconstruction Advanced Reconstruction allows storage system to support the set speed of data transmission even in the mode of degradation of an array at evolution of RAID. At the same time process of reconstruction of an array does not affect work of other disks and overall performance of a system.
Raidix storage system constantly traces the 1/2048th part of a disk and recovers only the damaged data on the fly. At the same time the priority of process of data recovery can be regulated during operation. As a result of such approach reconstruction of the damaged blocks is performed with a high speed and guarantees correct record of all data streams. It means reduction of time of reconstruction and simplification of service of disk shelves for users. DWH of Raidix supports connection via all widespread interfaces for block and file access: SAN (Fibre Channel, iSCSI, SAS, InfiniBand) and NAS (NFS, AFP, SMB and others).
Use of standard hardware resources of x86-64 and the chassis of high density allows to reach the minimum cost of ownership and also the cost of 1 GB and IOps. Raidix Video Surveillance has flexible configuration of storage time of data with the help of the WORM parameter (Write Once – Read Many). It allows to prohibit change or removal of the file after its creation and thus to protect important records. For video surveillance systems protection against data loss is an important task. Even partial loss of information when preserving video data can lead to loss of all written video flow.
Disk regiments from HGST (a brand of Western Digital)
The complexity of configuration change when adding new objects becomes one of calls for administrators of video surveillance systems. The solution Raidix allows flexible transparent scalability due to adding of new disk shelves and controllers – without stopping input-output processes. According to the statement of the producer, scaling of infrastructure of video surveillance up to 1800 terabyte is allowed. When using a high-performance cluster of ExaSphere and the HyperFS file system a system can be scaled up to 16 exabytes. Quanta of scaling of a system are the separate node of storage and the disk shelf of JBOD on 60 disks.
The disk shelf is the solution for tasks at which storage volume from 200TB is required. Video surveillance – one of typical scopes of JBOD as using JBOD the flexible scalability of architecture, the large volume of storage for low cost and also high performance for sequential access is provided. For the same reason big corporate customers can use regiments for creation of file repositories and other scenarios of storage of unstructured information.
Part of the complete solution Raidix is the disk shelf from HGST company (a brand of Western Digital). In a regiment 4U high 60 disk storage modules 3.5' are used by HGST Ultrastar. The shelf works through SAS of 12 Gbps on two or four ways via two modules in

Due to application of normal equipment it is possible to pick up flexibly an optimal configuration for formation of a high-speed failsafe storage system for large-scale video surveillance systems. In storage system the disks expected application in the industrial systems and work under heavy loads in the round-the-clock mode are used.
Internal walls of the shelf represent the high-quality aluminum cellular construction providing high strength and decrease in vibration. Also vibration decreases at the expense of the sprung structural elements of disk carriages. Carriages support installation of disks 3.5 and 2.5 inches of SAS and SATA without additional adapters.
Modules of input-output support standard SES-3 for management of the shelf via SAS interface, hot updating of a microcode, cascading to 4 shelves and also SAS zoning of T10. The shelf is designed optimum in terms of power supply and cooling and is suitable for use in DPC with the increased temperature in machine halls. HGST provides an unprecedented 5-year guarantee for JBOD and all disks sold with the shelf.
