2024: Output of glasses with the function of speech translation into another language in real time
December 16, 2024 Meta (recognized as an extremist organization; activities in the Russian Federation are prohibited) introduced new Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. Their feature is the function of translating speech into another language in real time.
A tool called Live Translation is based on artificial intelligence algorithms. This system is capable of "on the fly" translating speech between various languages, in particular, English, Spanish, French and Italian. The translation can be listened to through the speakers built into the glasses or viewed as text in the accompanying mobile application for the smartphone. To use the Live Translation function, you need to download the necessary language pairs in advance, as well as select the languages in which the interlocutors communicate.
Another innovation in Ray-Ban Meta was the Live AI assistant - Live AI. It is able to continuously monitor the user's environment through the glasses camera and answer questions or make recommendations in real time. For example, while in the grocery store, you can ask the AI assistant to offer several food options based on the products that are currently presented on the shelf. Meta says that in the future, Live AI will be able to give useful advice at the right time - even before the owner of the gadget asks him about it. It is noted that users will be able to use the "Live AI" function for about 30 minutes when the battery is fully charged.
Ray-Ban Meta glasses also acquired support for the Shazam service (it serves to recognize metadata of music, films, commercials and television shows by audio fragment). To determine the name of the musical composition that sounds nearby, it is enough to ask the corresponding question to the AI assistant.[1]

Points output from AI
In mid-December 2023, Meta (recognized as an extremist organization; activities in the Russian Federation are prohibited) presented an improved version of the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses. The gadget received multimodal capabilities based on artificial intelligence.
The AI assistant, with which the user interacts through smart glasses, can provide various information about objects around the world. AI algorithms analyze images coming from the integrated camera, as well as a voice request. After that, a particular set of data is output with reference to the real world. For example, you can turn to AI with a request to recognize an object or translate a phrase on a sign from one language to another.
We are going to launch a multimodal version of the AI assistant, which takes advantage of the camera on glasses to provide you with information not only on a given topic, but also about the world around you, "says Andrew" Boz "Bosworth, CTO of Meta. |
Points are fully managed through voice calls that begin with the words "Hey Meta": the user can ask a question or issue a command. Upon receiving the task, the AI assistant will combine what it sees with the camera with available or generated information. In one example of AI use, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg holds a shirt in front of his glasses and asks the device to find the right pair of trousers. In response, the smart assistant issues recommendations. In the future, the company intends to expand the functionality of multimodal AI: in particular, data from various sources will be analyzed, which will improve the awareness of the neural network and, therefore, increase the accuracy of responses.[2]
Product Announcement
September 27, 2023 Meta (recognized as an extremist organization; activities in the Russian Federation are prohibited) announced smart glasses called Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses.
The gadget is equipped with a 12-megapixel camera that allows you to shoot high-quality photos and record video materials in 1080p format. You can share files through social networks through simple voice commands like "send a photo." A bright LED indicator is integrated into the frame, which lights up when using the camera. Thus, others will know that the owner of smart glasses is shooting.
The device received specially designed speakers that provide rich low frequencies, increased maximum volume and improved directional sound. Thanks to this, the user hears the interlocutor well even in noisy or windy environments. In addition, the design allows you to enjoy music in various conditions. There are also five integrated microphones.
Based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 processor with high energy efficiency. The built-in flash drive is designed to store 32 GB of data. The declared battery life on a single battery charge reaches six hours (in mixed mode). The accompanying protective case with charging function allows you to replenish the energy supply of glasses up to eight times. Protection against moisture and dust is implemented in accordance with the IPX4 standard. If necessary, glasses that correct vision can be installed.
Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses are available in Wayfarer and Headliner variants, as well as a variety of colors, including Matte Black and Shiny Black. Sales begin on October 27, 2023: the price is about $300.[3]
