2021: Red Hat OpenShift Container Storage 4.6
On January 26, 2021 Red Hat, the solution provider with the open code, presented the solution Red Hat OpenShift Container Storage 4.6 which enters a line of Red Hat Data Services and allows customers to expand possibilities of already available solutions and infrastructures on data protection to increase stability of data for the cloud workloads functioning in hybrid and multicloud environments.
With distribution of Kubernetes for support of crucial applications, corporate IT services should face the sharp growth of a request for the integrated scalability and fault tolerance of data. Red Hat OpenShift Container Storage 4.6 helps to expand the opportunities for data protection which are already available for the organization and to extend them to the Kubernetes applications without upgrade of infrastructure of data protection.
The solution Red Hat OpenShift Container Storage 4.6 is closely integrated with Red Hat OpenShift, the Kubernetes-platform of a corporate class, and offers following features for increase in stability of data:
- The Snapshot-functionality with orchestration through Container Storage Interface (CSI) for creation of the configured instant (point-in-time) pictures or a clone copies of persistent volumes (persistent volume) of data simplifies rollback to the previous status and it is useful both to IT administrators, and application developers.
- OpenShift Data Protection API provide correct data recovery and the applications working in pod'ax. To means of backup bypasses a context of resources of a cluster that at application recovery they could find namespaces connected with the relevant persistent data. OpenShift Data Protection API allows business partners of Red Hat to integrate more effectively the solutions on data protection with OpenShift, making them easier and more conveniently for end users.
- Support at the level of an ecosystem of the certified Red Hat of means of backup, including IBM Spectrum Protect Plus (provides stability of data for container applications on Red Hat OpenShift and Kubernetes), TrilioVault for Kubernetes (the Kubernetes-native system of data protection and disaster recovery for the Red Hat OpenShift applications), to Kasten K10 (Kubernetes-native tools of data management for the Red Hat OpenShift applications in hybrid cloud environments).
Additional functions of stability of data for January, 2021 are already available in Red Hat OpenShift Container Storage 4.6.
the Enterprises expect that OpenShift will solve their needs for a part of cloud applicaions and data. In these conditions stability of data is one of key problems, and it is solved using upgraded version of Red Hat OpenShift Container Storage. Thanks to support CSI-snapshot'ov and OpenShift API for Data Protection, our customers can increase stability of data without replacement or upgrade of the infrastructure of data protection. |
We want to be on an edge of technologies, but at the same time should remember that our clients need security and predictability. Therefore Red Hat OpenShift Container Storage became the obvious choice for storage of our containers Red Hat OpenShift. noted Robert Stanko, the managing director for IT, APIS IT

At rest, in the movement, in operation – in all these statuses data are a basis for intelligent and efficient understanding of the organization, and Red Hat OpenShift Container Storage gives such opportunity and to us, and our clients. Thanks to Red Hat OpenShift Container Storage 4.6 we can quicker and easier recover the infrastructure, applications and data of these applications on all the ecosystem of Red Hat OpenShift, providing permanent success in our main business – providing safe and reliable services to the clients. It is just sure bet. commented Understand Makkonen (Petri Makkonen), the head of department of operation of IT systems, Asiakastieto
