According to her, by May 2022 in Russia there are even no accurate statistics on Alzheimer's disease. Doctors need numbers and accurate studies on this disease, Tkacheva added.

She also recalled that 10 million new cases of dementia are detected annually in the world, that is, we can talk about an epidemic. In the WHO global plan of action adopted in 2017, dementia was included in the list of priorities for public health. For causes of death, Alzheimer's disease comes in fifth place.

And we also need to understand this that in our country not only cardiovascular diseases, but also dementia should become a priority of public health. Awareness of dementia, risk reduction, diagnosis, treatment, information systems related to dementia and, of course, scientific research is a global plan of action, "said the specialist.
