2023: Product Announcement

On August 17, 2023, BlueWind Medical announced the Revi tibial neuromodulation system, designed to treat urinary incontinence.

Solution provides stimulation of tibial nerve in the area of ankle joint. The system can be used for the therapy of urgent urinary incontinence - these are periodic uncontrolled leaks as a result of a sudden urge to urinate. It is estimated that this urinary impairment occurs in about 15-20% of people with urinary incontinence. In addition, Revi allows you to treat urgent urinary incontinence in combination with imperative urge to urinate: this problem is characterized by a sudden and very strong need to empty the bladder.

BlueWind Medical Announces Neuromodulation System to Treat Urinary Incontinence

The Revi system includes a small implant that is implanted near the ankle during one minimally invasive outpatient procedure performed under local anesthesia. When activated, the device stimulates the tibial nerve to relieve symptoms of urinary incontinence.

The implant does not contain its own power supplies. Its activation is done wirelessly through a lightweight wearable device that is worn on the ankle once or twice a day to provide stimulation at a patient-friendly time. The lack of a built-in battery made it possible to reduce the size of the implant to 30 mm in length and 3 mm in diameter. This design eliminates the need for repeated surgical procedures to replace the power supply. In addition, the likelihood of damage to the device during shocks or injuries is reduced.

Studies suggest that 76.4% of patients with implanted Revi stimulants achieved at least a 50% reduction in episodes of imperative urinary incontinence 6 months after the procedure.[1]
