Date of the premiere of the system: 2018/03/15
Technology: DWH

The expansion cards SAS Expander and HBA for the server hardware are intended for connection to the server of additional storages.

2018: Preparation for start in production

The Russian innovation holding "Ricore" in March, 2018 announced development and preparation for start in production of prototypes of expansion cards — SAS Expander and HBA.

The release of payments is aimed, first of all, at the companies which are interested in import substitution. Installing in servers and storage systems of a payment of production of Ricore, manufacturing partners will be able to increase an ad valorem share of a finished product to 70-80%. Besides, according to the vice president of Ricore Boris Ivanov, the price of payments will be 15-20% lower than foreign analogs.

Products will be turned out in two modifications: the separate payments installed in the PCIe connector, and integrated on unifying payments as in a case with SAS Expander.

On the system server payments presented at the market with the set chipset of C610/C612 of Wellsburg it is possible to connect directly up to 10 disks with a speed up to 6 GB/sec. (10 connectors of SAS/SATS). The modern server systems can also have bigger quantity of disks — 12 or 24. The module SAS Expander developed by Ricore irrespective of, is installed it on a unifying payment or developed in PCIE form factor (only power buses are used), allows to connect up to 24 disks, occupying only 4 connectors on the motherboard.

The expansion cards HBA, in turn, are intended for connection to the server of additional storages of memory, for example, of DWH, or storages of simpler construction — JBOD. Usually payments of HBA are connected to the PCIe x8 connector while the payment of NVA of production of Ricore is supplied including miniSAS HD connectors which can transfer information on 8 channels to other server hardware with a speed up to 12 GB/sec.

Start of serial production of payments is planned for April, 2018 and will be performed at the Ricor Electronics plant which is a part of Ricore holding. At the beginning of spring at the plant upgrade of the line under serial production of maternal server payments came to the end.
