2021: Announcement of a robot surgeon for hip prosthetics
In mid-August 2021, Zimmer Biomet released the Rosa Hip robotic surgical system for full hip prosthetics. This is the fourth robotic system released by the company, and it complements the Rosa orthopedic device portfolio, which includes Rosa Knee, Rosa Partial Knee and Rosa One.
We offer our customers one of the most complete robotic orthopedics solutions based on a single platform with many functions, "said Ivan Tornos, chief operating officer of the company, in a press release. - Rosa Hip is integrated into the common ZBEdge Connected Intelligence Suite platform and develops our work to transform pre-, intraoperative and postoperative data into practical ideas that can be used to make specific therapeutic decisions. |
Rosa Hip was designed to assist orthopaedic surgeons in preparing and positioning patients before surgery, and to accurately determine the orientation of the cotyloid cavity, leg length, and displacement during surgery. Zimmer Biomet's Rosa Hip system is compatible with a number of implants, including the Avenir Complete hip implant. Rosa Hip allows the use of radioscopy and robotic assistance to accurately orient the cotyloid component and intraoperative evaluation of bone length and displacement.
Surgeons will also be able to use the One Planner Hip preoperative scheduler along with the Rosa Hip system. One Planner includes a vertebral pelvic mobility assessment tool from a side X-ray of sitting and standing, as well as an automatic planning function that allows surgeons to draw up a preoperative plan within five minutes.[1]
