Sea VSAT (Very Small Apperture Terminal) is the technology of satellite communication applied on the water transport to the organization of a broadband channel between the vessel and the coast using the satellites located on geostationary earth orbits.

2020: Growth of number of connections more than for 300%

The federal operator of satellite communication of JSC РТКомм.РУ (100% subsidiary of PJSC Rostelecom) shows high dynamics of connections of service of Sea VSAT. In six months 2020 the number of connections grew more than by three hundred percent in relation to all 2019. On August 3, 2020 Rostelecom reported about it.

The CEO of JSC РТКомм.РУ Sergey Ratiyev commented:

The most fast-growing segment of the market of VSAT for August, 2020 is communication at the sea. We note increases in demand for communication services at the trawler fleet – due to commissioning and a tab of courts. Not less perspective is the market of the research fleet which is involved in geological exploration for construction of gas transmission systems and mastering of new fields. In the long term the tourist market of river crafts can be considered by a point of growth in sales of service of Sea VSAT.

Meanwhile, RTKOMM came out on top in Russia by the number of sales of the equipment for connection of service of Sea VSAT. It is an additional indicator of increase in demand for communication services at the sea.
