2025: Putting the complex on alert
Russia has deployed To the Crimea in the latest electronic warfare system () capable EW of suppressing all types drones within a radius of 20 km. The installation of the complex on combat duty became known on March 3, 2025.
It is argued that there are no analogues of this system in the world. The development was carried out by a team of engineers with the support of regional authorities. For serial production of technologies on the peninsula, JSC "Russian Dome" was created.
One of the creators of the system with the call sign "Associate Professor" explained that at the initial stage of the special military operation in Russia there were no necessary anti-drone systems. Employees of the "Russian Dome" were regularly in the area of the SVO and understood the existing threats from the enemy, which prompted them to create electronic warfare devices to combat drones.
The head of Crimea supported the testing and experimental operation of electronic warfare systems on the territory of the peninsula. During the tests, it was possible to successfully land Ukrainian drones without damage, which made it possible to study their characteristics and improve the electronic warfare system.
In the spring of 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Ministry of Industry and Trade to assist the Russian Dome company in developing the production of systems capable of detecting and suppressing other people's drones. Within the framework of this order, the task was set to increase the use of the Russian electronic component base in electronic warfare systems.
The Crimean government actively contributed to the implementation of this task, creating favorable conditions for innovation and production development. More than 150 people are currently working on the project. According to the developers, the system's software is completely Russian, and there are no analogues of such a system in the world.
During the development of the electronic warfare system, there were certain difficulties, including unintentional suppression of GPS signals in a European country neighboring Ukraine, which required adjustments to the settings. The system has already proven effective in protecting government and commercial facilities. In particular, she prevented the attack of 25 drones on a plant in the Rostov region.[1]
