2024: Product Announcement
In early January 2024, Supernal, a division of the corporation's electric aircraft, Hyundai announced serial air taxi S-A2. The pilot controls this air vehicle, and there is space for four passengers in the cockpit.
S-A2 is an eVTOL class aircraft - a compact aircraft with vertical take-off and landing on electric thrust. The aerotaxis has a tiltrotor configuration with a V-tail and two wings, each of which is equipped with two beams for rotors. In total, eight screws are involved - four on the wing. Each of the propellers is driven by its own electric motor. This design provides redundancy at all stages of the flight. In vertical take-off, the front screws deflect up and the rear screws deflect down. When flying in the horizontal direction, the front row of propellers becomes pulling, the rear row becomes pushing.
The declared maximum flight speed is about 200 km/h. The battery Block allows the machine to travel distances of up to 64 km. The company claims that the noise during vertical take-off is about 65 dB, and for horizontal flight - about 45 dB, which is comparable to the level of a dishwasher. The air taxi received a modular configurable cabin, which can have a cargo, two- or four-seat layout.
The S-A2 model is designed to meet global aviation safety standards for operation in markets around the world. It is said about certification for instrument flights (IFR). In addition, an air taxi can be safely operated at any time of the day and in conditions of poor visibility. Design with multisystem redundancy is implemented.[1]
