SANtricity OS is the operating system from NetApp developed especially for SAN networks provides the optimal performance of providing data for any corporate SAN applications.

Adaptive algorithms of caching dynamically optimize performance for achievement of high rates of IOPS and capacity. SANtricity OS acts on nearly one million systems in the world.

SANtricity OS:

  • provides high degree of reliability thanks to opportunities of automation, setup online, to the latest RAID technologies, pro-active monitoring and the AutoSupport functions;
  • has expanded functions of data protection using remote mirroring on the FC and IP platform, dynamic disk pools (DDP),
    • advanced mechanism of creation Snapshot,
    • Data Assurance for ensuring integrity of data
    • ample diagnostic opportunities;

  • uses the connected modules for Oracle applications, VMware, Microsoft and Splunk considering them features.

2016: SANtricity OS

On March 31, 2016 the Netapp company submitted the upgraded version[1].

The version helps to reduce a time frame to obtaining result by clients by means of use of technologies which allow:

  • increase performance of applications for data analysis more than by 50%;
  • simplify the IT infrastructure
  • lower costs more than by 33%;
  • increase parameters of availability and visibility of data.

The arrays of Netapp EF-Series all-flash and storage system of E-Series working at the software of SANtricity increase performance of applications with high rates of IOPS and low latency, an also of applications with high capacity. The platform provides the due level of reliability thanks to opportunities of automation, setup online, to the latest RAID technologies and pro-active monitoring. The platform has the Netapp AutoSupport function accelerating the problem resolution and reducing number of cases of P1. The application of mobile support, a possibility of bonus support and other professional services is offered to clients.

This version of SANtricity contains the innovative solutions optimized for applications of data analysis and allowing the user to understand the data arrays received from attached devices and Internet of Things.

According to developers, the clients using SANtricity had opportunities:

  • increase Splunk search performance (up to 69%);
  • provide performance improvement of Hadoop in the course of data recovery with Dynamic Disk Pools (up to 500%);
  • recover 400 gigabytes of a solid-state memory approximately in 15 minutes against about 10 watch for databases of NoSQL with serial servers and direct attached storages;
  • carry out an encryption of data in the rest mode from less than 1% of performance penalty against 70% when using serial servers with internal disks;
  • build uniform architecture for the hot, warm, cold and frozen storage levels instead of separate for each level.
