Premiere of the platform: SAP decided to become user-friendly

In May, 2013 SAP announced a release of the new platform of SAP applications ^[1] which should destroy idea of software of the company as about rather difficult in mastering for end users. Based on the new platform 25 small applications written on HTML5 which can work as at desktops, and tablets and other mobile devices running different operating systems are still available.

The functionality of these applications covers the most standard business processes for most business companies: drawing of accounts or, for example, confirmation of traveling expenses, said in the announcement of SAP.

At the same time 25 applications are separated into four main groups on types of users: ordinary managers, sales representatives, employees and purchasing agents. The Fiori platform already on sale, pricing of a new product is based on payment for each user separately, the exact prices of SAP are not sounded yet.

Fiori can be set as separate group of applications or as web applications within the portal solution. About 250 clients of SAP also took part in development of the platform that, according to vendor, helped to make it by more user-friendly (literally – friendly to users).

Within SAP the separate division of developers like a startup under the name App Haus which conducts work on creation of more user friendly program interfaces is organized. However, so far it is definitely not known whether it had relation to Fiori creation. Besides, SAP released applications under the name Screen Personas which allows to configure appearance of interfaces of programs according to preferences of users.

The codirector of SAP Jim Hagemann Snabe so commented on innovations: "We went a long way from the moment of emergence of old SAP GUI. Changes are visible with the naked eye. We do not equal any more on other corporate software as in the majority it is not too nice. We equal on software for mass users. And we are going to provide the best user experience in the industry".
