2024: SSI Mantra 3 robot surgeon released for vaginal plastic surgery

At the end of November 2024, SS Innovations announced the release of a new generation robotic surgical system - the SSI Mantra 3 platform. The complex can be used for a wide range of procedures, including plastic surgery on the vagina.

The SSI Mantra 3 includes five robotic arms that are mounted on independent modular trolleys. An open control console with a large 4K monitor and an auxiliary touchscreen display is used. In addition, a 3D HD headset for surgeons is provided. One of the innovative functions of the platform is the telesurgery mode: thanks to this, complex operations can be carried out remotely when the patient is many kilometers from the medical team. The main condition in this case is to provide stable high-speed communication for data exchange.

The robotic platform allows you to perform various operations on the vagina. Among them, in particular, hysterectomy (removal of the uterus), sacrocolpopexy (fixation of the drooping organs of the pelvis), excision of the ovarian tumor, as well as therapy of the vesicovaginal fistula. In addition, vaginal plastic may be performed with intestinal reposition.

In general, SSI Mantra 3 provides multidisciplinary applications, including in cardiothoracic surgery (breast surgery, including the heart, lungs and other chest organs), head and neck surgery, gynecology, urology and general surgery. The system is designed with cost-effectiveness in mind, making advanced surgical technology more globally accessible.[1]

2023: Sales start

On August 9, 2023, SS Innovations International announced the start of international sales of the SSi Mantra robotic surgical system. The complex is delivered to the Aster Hospital Clinic in Dubai, which is partly controlled by Aster DM Healthcare Limited - a public multinational commercial entity running 32 hospitals and a network of other health facilities in six countries.

The SSi Mantra system is designed with an eye to high profitability for a wide range of surgical applications. It is noted that the introduction of robotic surgery is constantly expanding. It has been shown that such systems can be used in various operations, but their distribution is limited by the high cost of equipment and the need for a highly qualified team of specially trained doctors. The SSi Mantra complex is designed to eliminate a number of difficulties in performing robotic surgical interventions.

SSi Mantra Surgical System

SSi Mantra provides multidisciplinary use opportunities including cardiothoracic surgery, head and neck surgery, gynecology, urology, general surgery and more. In total, more than 40 different procedures can be performed.

The system features a modular design, the use of an open 3D Vision console and thoughtful ergonomics. Machine learning models are used to improve the safety and effectiveness of procedures. At the same time, according to the developer, the complex costs several times less than the world's best-selling surgical robot. This will allow many healthcare facilities to take advantage of minimally invasive surgery based on robotic technologies. SSi Mantra is the first surgical system to be developed in India.[2]
