2024: Use in the RWT area

In early August 2024, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that the Russian military began to use the Sobolyatnik robotic systems in the special operation zone. They are designed to identify tanks and combat vehicles.

Sable is a multifunctional radar station capable of detecting small objects at a distance of several tens of kilometers. Despite its small size and weight, the system can be used to detect and simultaneously automatically track up to 20 targets, including to adjust artillery fire along the trajectory of shells and their ruptures.

Russia began to use Sobolyatnik robots in the SVO zone to identify tanks and combat vehicles

The Sobolyatnik complex includes three main components: a phased array antenna device, an operator console and a portable power supply. Antenna module with set of required equipment is installed on folding tripod. The phased antenna array is connected to a portable power supply and a remote control, on the screen of which a high-resolution color picture is displayed. The coordinates of the targets are given up to a meter. In addition, the radar analyzes the nature of the detected objects and selects the most priority of them. Several stations can be combined into one network, increasing the area of the controlled area.

The Ministry of Defense reported that the Sobolyatnik is capable of detecting moving and stationary armored and lightly armored ground targets. The complex helps to perform combat missions at a distance without involving personnel.

This complex allows us to very accurately establish the enemy's reserve, their approaches, the amount of equipment, be it tracked vehicles, tanks or vehicles. When this device detects equipment, we see its coordinates, location, speed of movement, - says the intelligence observer with the call sign Deputy.[1]
