2025: Samsung launches 24-hour ad on refrigerators
In mid-November 2025, it became known that Samsung began showing round-the-clock advertising on displays integrated into the doors of Family Hub smart refrigerators. To completely disable it, you need to pay a monthly fee.
According to the Android Authority resource, advertising began to be shown on Family Hub smart refrigerators after the next embedded software update. Announcements are displayed when the screen is not in use. The format of the advertisement may change depending on the personalization settings of the Family Hub. At the same time, advertising is not shown if the "Picture" mode or photo album is activated on the refrigerator.
| Samsung is committed to innovation and increasing the value of home appliances for customers. As part of this effort, we are launching a pilot program to run marketing promotions and showcase curated ads on some Family Hub refrigerator models, the South Korean company said in a statement. |
Samsung does not specify which refrigerators are covered by the innovation. According to The Verge, we are talking about models equipped with a 21.5 and 32-inch display. Initially, only advertisements for Samsung products and services will appear on the Family Hub screen. However, in the future, according to network sources, ads from third-party advertisers may appear. Further development of the program will depend on "feedback and information received."
Users met the innovation negatively: they complain that it is impossible to completely get rid of advertising. One of the owners of the Family Hub said that to turn it off, you need to pay $16 a month. At the same time, the cost of the Family Hub refrigerators themselves varies from $1800 to $3500.[1]
