2018: Decrease in a dose of radiation in all digital X-ray scanners of Samsung

On May 1, 2018 Samsung company about decrease in a dose of radiation in all the digital X-ray devices. The South Korean giant showed one of methods of decrease in a dose on the example of completely digital x-ray GC85A system.

This system provides the same image quality, as the previous devices, but a radiation dose at its use decreases twice thanks to technology of image processing of S-Vue 3.02 registered in November, 2017.

The new technology represents a technique of reduction of "noise" on the image with preserving of structural and anatomic data, - the president and the chief executive officer of NeuroLogica, subsidiary company Samsung, Philip Philip Sullivan explained.

Patients to whom the thorax roentgenography using the GC85A system is carried out are affected by 8 μSv of radiation that is equivalent to an average dose of radiation which is received by the person at three-hour flight.

The head of radiological department of the medical center ARMC-Cone Health in Northern Carolina, doctor Hetal Patel, participated in a research of low doses of radiation which was conducted by Samsung. Within this research he estimated ten x-ray installations and found out that the general quality of pictures was "excellent".

The roentgenograms received when using lower dose were comparable or even exceeded normal pictures on quality, and I recommend that all radiological researches of bodies of a thorax were conducted using this technology, - he said.

Samsung is also going to develop technology for decrease in a dose of radiation when carrying out a computer tomography. Already existing techniques of automatic control of exposure and efficiency of radiation and also technology of decrease in "noise" will be used for this purpose.[1]
