2022: App Store Plan

Sber, Yandex and VK are participating in negotiations with the government of the Russian Federation on the creation of a domestic alternative to App Store and Google Play, until the main developer is selected. This became known on April 8, 2022. On the eve of the Prime Minister of the RFMihail Mishustin said that the Russian Federation is developing a domestic analogue of AppStore and Google Play: an online store on the Android platform should earn by the summer of 2022. Sber is developing applications for SberStore specialists based on its enterprise store.

The second option may be the Yandex.Storm application store, which closed in 2020. Yandex is considering restarting it. Yandex.Store appeared in 2013 on the Android platform. As of the beginning of 2014, more than 100 thousand applications were available in the service, and the store itself was predicted by more than ten smartphone vendors, including OPPO, Huawei and Nokia. To quickly fill the store for opening, Yandex acquired a license for 40 thousand applications from another alternative Opera Store. But in recent years, the Yandex.Store has hardly developed. The company declined to comment on the possibility of restarting the service. VK can also take part in the development of a domestic application store. According to one of the sources, it would be most logical to launch a mobile services marketplace based on the My.Games platform, but since the fate of the game direction has not yet been finally decided, it is unlikely to become a base for the VK application store. VK itself confirmed that they are creating an application store for developers, Sber plans to launch it in May^[1].
