2024: Ability to place syndicated deals directly from investors

The SberUnity venture platform can now host syndicated deals directly from investors. It is expected that up to 20% of all syndicated transactions in Russia will be held on the platform. First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank Alexander Vedyakhin spoke about this on April 10, 2024.

As Alexander Vedyakhin noted, more than 4,200 startups from Russia and foreign countries are represented at SberUnity. 64% of those attracting investment are in the pre-seed and seed stages, 36% in rounds A and B. There are more than 500 investors on the platform.

As of April 2024, the SberUnity resident lead investor can, according to more than 20 criteria, choose a startup suitable for a syndicated transaction on the platform, agree with him on the terms of investment and invite potential co-investors to join the round. For syndication of the transaction, you can bring to SberUnity and a independently found external startup with which agreements have been reached on the terms of the investment. Other investors see applications for all current syndicated transactions and can enter into them on the terms already announced by the lead investor.

Automating syndicated deals will be helpful:

• experienced investors who will help to attract partners as quickly and conveniently as possible and diversify risks (funds can be distributed among several transactions);

Attracting Starptaps in the field of digitalization of agriculture

The parties will attract agrotech startups and association residents to the SberUnity platform. Startups that create solutions for precision farming, tools using artificial intelligence and robotic systems for agriculture will be able to place their developments on it, and representatives of agro-industrial enterprises and agricultural holdings will be able to choose the optimal ones, publish requests for technology or order scouting.

A special community of agrotech startups will also be created. Members of the association will provide teams with consulting and mentoring support, and SberUnity will help attract investment through the organization of industry pitch sessions.

The National Association of Agricultural Producers and Industrialists in the agro-industrial complex of the full cycle "InterAgroTech" was created with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation for the development of the agricultural industry. Creating a base of university startups

Sberbank on June 15, 2023 announced that it would become a partner in the federal project "Platform of University Technological Entrepreneurship" of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia. A base of university startups will appear on the venture online hub SberUnity, for investments in which private investors will be able to receive up to 50% of the cashback from the Skolkovo Foundation. The corresponding agreement was signed by First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Sberbank Alexander Vedyakhin and Chairman of the Board of the Skolkovo Foundation Igor Drozdov.

The program of reimbursement of investments in university startups allows private investors to reimburse up to 50% of their investments, but not more than 20 million rubles for each project, and in total - no more personal income tax paid for the previous three years. The Skolkovo Foundation acts as the operator of the program.

Start-ups and business angels registered to SberUnity will be able to apply for an investment reimbursement program using the capabilities of a personal account.

The accelerator for students, graduate students and university researchers SberStudent will provide a stream of startups for the federal project - accelerator participants create more than 500 technology projects per year.

Under the terms of the program, university startups are understood as companies, at least 10% of which belong to students or recent graduates of Russian universities, employees of scientific and pedagogical staff, a university startup studio or the university itself. The startup must be no older than five years and have a revenue of no more than 120 million rubles per year. The scientific and technological component and the prospect of creating objects of intellectual property are also mandatory. To enter the registry formed by Sberbank, a startup must register for SberUnity.

Investors-individuals are also invited to participate in the program, there are no requirements for previous investment experience. The investor needs to register with SberUnity, after which he will be able to track the update of the startup database and receive a refund.

Opening of the Competence Center for Intellectual Property Protection

On the site of the venture online hub SberUnity, the Competence Center for the Protection of the Intellectual Property of Technology Startups has been launched. The center was created by SberUnity together with SberPravo to receive legal assistance from startups. Sberbank announced this on September 6, 2022.

Online hub resident startups can apply for support in registering software in the Unified Register of Russian Programs Ministry of Digital Development Russia, applying for a technical solution patent or trademark, for advice in the field of personal data protection and IP directly in their personal account on SberUnity. At the beginning of September 2022, six services were presented, their number will grow. All services are available around the clock.

According to the decree of the President of Russia, from March 31, 2022, companies with state participation and a number of other customers must purchase Russian software (software) presented in a single register, and from January 1, 2025 - stop using foreign software altogether. Thus, only startups whose software is included in the unified register will be able to access public procurement. In addition, the legislation establishes a number of benefits that startups can take advantage of when commercializing software included in a single register. By consulting through SberUnity, platform residents will be able to: speed up the process of their inclusion in the register, find potential customers from among corporations on the platform, and also take advantage of additional special offers for 30 services for doing business. After the release in the spring of 2022 of the corresponding decree of the President of the Russian Federation, technological startups began to contact us in Sberbank with a request to help with their installation in the unified register of domestic software. In parallel, we have identified other frequent requests from startups - for example, to help register intellectual property. As a rule, it is 75 − 100% of the cost of such companies, while there are practically no players on the market who provide such services directly to startups. To help them protect their top asset, SberUnity is tearing away a competency center where teams of tech companies can get qualified help in a single-window format.

As of September 6, 2022, more than 1,300 technology startups with a finished product and sales are located on the site of the online venture hub SberUnity, 40% of them work in the B2B segment and offer solutions based on artificial intelligence, big data and digital automation.

Opening the "Import Substitution" section

The online venture hub SberUnity opens the "Import Substitution" section, in which technology startups can place their solutions - analogues of foreign services - and representatives of corporations - choose the optimal ones, publish their own request for technologies or order scouting. This was announced on June 16, 2022 by the First Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Sberbank Alexander Vedyakhin.

The section already contains about a hundred the Russian startups that offer solutions similar in functionality to products,, SAP,, Oracle, as Zoom Meetings MS Office TeamViewer well as specialized no-code solutions. Among them:

• "Initiator" - ERP system for project companies, cloud service with group access to projects, large functionality for personnel management and project budget (analogue of Microsoft Project);
• Getscreen.me - a service for remote access to computers running Windows, macOS, Linux and Android (analogue of TeamViewer and AnyDesk);
• Beehive is an HR platform for automating the processes of adaptation, assessment and development of personnel (analogue of SAP SuccessFactors);
• Dbrain is a service that allows you to extract data from documents (passports, driver's licenses, invoices, questionnaires) and turn them into electronic ones (analogue of ABBYY, Kofax, Hyperscience and other IDP products);
• WEEK is a project management and planning service (analogue of Trello, Jira, Notice, Asana).

To get into the SberUnity import substitution database, startups need to indicate which foreign services they replace, what they are superior to, and what kind of functionality a foreign service can implement (the latter is relevant when replacing multi-component products, for example, SAP). Registration and residency on SberUnity for startups is free.

Applicants just need to have a technological startup of the MVP stage and above, a registered legal entity or the status of an individual entrepreneur.

The SberUnity site, launched in the IV quarter of 2021, has already hosted about 1,200 resident startups with a finished product and sales, as well as requests for innovation from more than 60 corporations and investors. 44% of startups presented on the platform work in the B2B segment. Most projects belong to the industries of retail, marketing and advertising, real estate and infrastructure, personnel management. More than 20% of tech startups offer solutions based on artificial intelligence, big data and digital automation.
