Schneider Electric Local Edge Configurator (LEC)

2018: Release of the solution

On August 9, 2018 the Schneider Electric company provided to the Russian partners of Local Edge Configurator (LEC) — the complex online service allowing to create highly reliable solutions on individual requirements of the customer. Virtual environment simplifies design, assembly and deployment of complexes for peripheral calculations (Edge Computing), does not require preliminary tests of compatibility of the equipment and reduces complexity of integration of products and also reduces the total costs and risks.

Schneider Electric explained that development of technologies of Internet of Things (IoT) and increase in level of information exchange between applications led to rapid growth of need for data processing in real time and need to constantly increase capacity of communication channels. The problem is solved by implementation of peripheral calculations when considerable amounts of data are processed in close proximity to the place of their generation. Similar approach reduces delays, but requires creation of the distributed IT environment in which in addition to traditional data centers numerous micro DPCs are used. It is designed simplify and reduce the price of process of selection and ensuring compatibility of components of Local Edge Configurator.

Local Edge Configurator allows to create and to completely configure the engineering environment for the existing IT stack of the client or to create solutions according to the set help specification. The online tool uses automatically updated library of hardware-software complexes including not only the rack equipment, cooling systems both power distributions, but also and servers, storage systems, convergent and hyper convergent solutions and also network equipment of leading manufacturers: Cisco, Nutanix, Dell, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and others. The service developed for increase in operational efficiency and ensuring support of sales allows the partner companies to save projects for further replication that simplifies their replication and scaling in large projects. Directly in a configurator partners can calculate and add additional services, including installation and balancing and commissioning, warranty and service maintenance, noted in Schneider Electric.
