2024: Keyboard Release
In early May 2024, a computer keyboard called Seneca debuted. It is claimed that this is the first device of this type with a complete absence of noise. The cost of the product is $3400 - for comparison, for that kind of money you can buy a powerful gaming-level computer.
The Seneca is an electric capacitance keyboard made in a "retro futuristic design." The novelty does not have a traditional digital unit on the right side. The buttons have a white-gray color, and the "Esc" and "Enter" keys are highlighted in pink.
Seneca has been developed for five years (by the beginning of 2024) by enthusiast Ryan Norbauer. He designed a special keyboard mechanism, completely changing the stabilizers. As a result, it was possible to achieve zero noise level when the buttons are triggered. Thus, the device is great for use, for example, at night, when you need to work without disturbing others.
Working on stabilizers of a new type, Norbauer had to solve several problems at once. These are acceptable acoustic characteristics, mechanical properties and the possibility of using caps of different widths. The difficulty was that "optimizing one parameter always caused others to deteriorate." The final decision represents a compromise.
Seneca is the result of many years of research and development, patented innovations and almost a decade of collaboration with the IT development community. Sparing no effort or expense, I optimized every element of the keyboard - in a way that mass-market product developers can never do. Seneca is the first keyboard in my family, built from scratch entirely from custom components, emphasizes Ryan Norbauer.[1] |
