2020: The beginning of delivering solutions based on the Industrial Edge platform

On October 12, 2020 the company "Siemens" announced the beginning of the delivering solutions created on the basis of the Industrial Edge platform which allows to use effectively all data which are formed at the level APCS and to analyze them flexibly and safely. Elements of the Industrial Edge platform are realized in a number equipment rooms of devices for boundary calculations, server software and also in the application programs created by both forces of Siemens, and her partners.

For the first time submitted to Siemens the Industrial Edge platform in November, 2018. For last two years it was embodied in ready-made products, passed test at a number of the European enterprises and now is issued in the open address. The concept of this platform means first of all transfer of a point of information processing most close to data source that, on the one hand, reduces load of network, with another – gives advantage due to processing of really high-frequency data. It will allow to solve practically any problems which are not connected directly with control of the equipment in real time: in the field of predictive analytics, work with genealogy of products, efficiency analysis of loading of the equipment (OEE), etc.

Besides, centralization of management of all park of boundary devices is among advantages of a system. It means that for installation of the application or updating of a firmware it is not necessary to be connected to the device – enough connection with the server. A system is also capable to work without permanent connection to the Internet, and, therefore, is suitable for work with confidential data. At last, the openness allows to develop applications in almost any main available programming languages using different protocols of communication irrespective of a target hardware platform.
