The CIBER company, the Golden partner of SAP, announced in March, 2012 release of the set-up solution smartEWM based on the software of SAP EWM for management of warehouses.

smartEWM is the set-up solution on management of warehouses which includes the main functionality of SAP EWM and additional settings taking into account specifics of the Russian legislation are made (for example, templates of primary documents, including the unified printed forms used in a warehouse and labels are configured). Thanks to preset tunings of smartEWM it is possible to implement the full-fledged SAP EWM system in shorter terms. It occurs owing to simplification of design stages and reduction of time for a configuration of business processes, universal for all warehouses, and also due to preset tuning of a system in relation to a certain industry, for example, to retail trade.

At the moment the volume of smartEWM includes the main functionality of SAP SCM of EWM 7.0 and also the preconfigured business processes of warehouse logistics, the including entering, internal and outgoing processes of the distribution center. In the field of the entering processes of smartEWM contains:

• arrival and unloading of transport,
• determination of storage location of goods and its placement,
• processing of returns and defects, the entering quality control,
• acceptance on cross docking processes (processings of loads in the distributive center without storage) and Flow-through.

Among the internal processes of the distribution center implemented in smartEWM:

• internal transfers, inventory,
• analysis and write-off of differences, defects processing,
• replenishment of goods in completing cells,
• internal control of quality,
• repacking, management of the cargo yard,
• task management and resources.

In the field of outgoing processes of the distribution center of smartEWM includes:

• formation of the order,
• determination of places of selection,
• packaging of goods, loading and goods issue,
• management of shipment waves,
• processing of returns and defects,
• holiday on processes of cross docking and Flow-through.

In the set-up solution smartEWM there are functions of monitoring of management of a warehouse and submissions of its graphic plan allowing to plan optimum warehouse space and to control its use. The internal routing which is based on the plan of a warehouse defines intermediate points in a warehouse for management of a step-by-step complete set and placement and also offers optimal cells for storage of products. Rules of the specification of packaging give the chance to define what packaging to pick up, based on product characteristics that simplifies afterwards the movement of material without the need for separate input of identification numbers. Besides, inventory processes are implemented (annual, cyclic, on demand; in places or on products) and possibilities of replenishment of goods in a warehouse (on the set plan or by request). The solution smartEWM also does possible to exercise control of warehouse personnel with planning of workload and the overview of performance. It allows to provide presence of a certain employee in the right place and in due time, to keep track of all aspects of activity of warehouse personnel during the working day, to calculate costs on workers, to measure quality of work and the security level for specific labor objectives.

The methodology of smartEWM was used by CIBER on projects of automation of an inventory control in LENTA and Eldorado companies. Implementing solution is performed in shorter terms and at smaller costs. smartEWM is perfectly integrated with SAP ERP, however at the same time the solution can be also successfully used by the companies applying the ERP systems which are not entering a line of SAP. Implementation of the set-up solution smartEWM of CIBER company will allow to reduce charges of warehousing capacit, to increase management efficiency and, as a result, to satisfy and exceed customer expectations and partners from work with the warehouse center. At the same time implementation is performed quicker and cheaper, than "classical".
