2023: Development Announcement
On February 21, 2023, Origami Surgical announced StitchKit's robotic surgery solution. device is intended for control of suturing and removal of needles.
StitchKit, the developer says, facilitates minimally invasive robotic surgery by transporting the suture to the operating field and removing used needles after suturing. The Monotex PTFE surgical suture can be used in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation, including cardiovascular, dental, and general surgical procedures.
StitchKit can be used with classic 8mm trocars. A laparoscope is used to control the procedure. The technology ensures the safety and effectiveness of robotic surgery. The suture delivery container contains six threads and needles. After the procedure is performed, the surgeon removes StitchKit using an extraction cord.
StitchKit technology is a unique solution designed to improve robotic surgery. Healthcare professionals can manage all aspects of suture use and needle removal to improve the efficiency of operations, Origami Surgical notes. |
StitchKit is injected into the abdomen and used by a robot surgeon. This solution allows you to save time and eliminates the possibility of losing a needle inside the patient. As soon as the product is delivered to the desired area, the atraumatic device opens and the surgeon starts suturing. After the stitching is complete, the used needle is placed in a secure compartment inside the storage container until the entire device is removed through the trocar using an attached cord.[1]
