2019: Beginning of sales

At the end of December, 2019 the Chinese companies China Unicom and Guoxin Micro provided Super SIM cards 5G. They differ from usual SIM- cards in the increased volume of the internal memory (up to 32, 64 and 128 Gbytes) thanks to what on them it is possible to store photos, video and other personal files to expand memory smartphone. Depending on amount of memory, the price of new SIM cards varies from 150 yuans for 32 Gbytes (about 1300 rubles) up to 550 yuans for 128 Gbytes (5500 rubles).

China Unicom and Guoxin Micro provided Super SIM card 5G

The state telecommunication company China Unicom from Hong Kong is engaged in start of Super SIM. The super SIM card has the high-speed interface and provides both communication functions, and storage function of documents. In general, the extended memory of Super SIM performs functions of the normal microSD-card: on it it is possible to store all documents, photos and applications and also to create backup copies of a system. Developers consider that such approach will simplify data transfer from the old smartphone on new. At the same time all information is stored in encrypted form, to copy it without owner it will not turn out.

The super SIM card with a capacity of 128 GB in 1048 576 times more, than the normal 128-KB SIM card. It provides the speed of data reading of 90 Mbps and writing rate of 60 Mbps. Super SIM are issued only as an experiment and only within one city so far. The new format of SIM cards is supported by only two smartphones which models are still unknown. However if the experiment is successful, sales of new SIM cards will start also in other cities, and cards can be used on different smartphones. China Unicom also started the Updating of Super SIM Card program in Guangzhou — at the additional price users can pass to "Super-SIM card" of a 5G with a capacity of 32 GB or 64 GB.^[1]
