2025: Beginning of application in the zone of special military operation
At the end of March 2025, it became known that Russia began to use new fiber-optic drones of the Svarog family in the zone of a special military operation. These unmanned aerial vehicles have an increased range - they are capable of delivering cargo up to 25 km.
According to TASS, we are talking about the Svarog-13 and Svarog-15 drones, which are manufactured by Frobotics. The drones are made according to the copter scheme and are equipped with powerful engines. They can be used, among other things, to strike in the depths of the enemy's front. As of the end of March 2025, UAVs are involved in operations in the SWO zone, including the Kursk region.
Now one of the trends in the SVO zone is an increase in the distance at which work with fiber optic devices takes place. If earlier the units worked at a distance of up to 15 km, now the units work at a distance of up to 30 km. Therefore, now we have new fiber-optic quadcopters of the Svarog line with a diagonal of 13 and 15 inches, "said Oleg Fedorov, General Director of the Frobotics Advanced Development Engineering Center. |
The Frobotics website notes that additional equipment can be installed for the company's drones. These are, in particular, a night vision camera, a thermal imager, protection against electronic warfare and a reset system. The Svarog family includes cargo drones that provide food delivery in almost all sectors of the front. These devices are reusable: after the cargo is dropped, they return to the take-off point.
Fedorov also says that Russian-made fiber optic cables for UAVs are superior in quality to their Chinese counterparts. In particular, in the case of domestic products, a smaller number of breaks are recorded.[1]
