2022: System Announcement
On September 27, 2022, Merit Medical Systems announced the launch of the TEMNO Elite soft tissue biopsy system. We are talking about taking materials from places such as the liver, lungs, lymph nodes, kidneys, etc. According to the developers, the disposable device complements a wider range of products, which also includes the TEMNO, Achieve and Tru-Cut models.
According to the developers, TEMNO Elite total biopsy technology allows you to receive samples 72% more than semi-automatic devices with a side notch of competitors. It features Sample Assist technology, which also makes it easier to remove tissue. Sample Assist allows doctors to retrieve full samples at the touch of a button. In addition, an additional coaxial introducer with a valve is included. This increases patient safety, reducing the risk of air ingress and fluid leakage, which is especially important in lung biopsies.
{{quote 'Merit Medical is committed to helping doctors provide the best possible care for patients, and this includes the most important stage of accurate diagnosis! TEMNO Elite is the latest innovation in our portfolio of soft tissue biopsy devices, and it highlights the company's ability to understand clinician and patient needs, innovate, and deliver technologies that improve patient care, said Merit Medical Chairman and CEO Fred Lampropoulos. }} Diagnostic Radiology Specialist at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth, Dr. Stuart Aronson, called the quality of the system samples "excellent." Aronson said that the cores are noticeably and stably larger than when using other devices. Meanwhile, he noted that the introducer reduces the number of steps in the procedure, blood leakage and the risk of pneumothorax and air embolism.[1]
