TEMS Automatic InfoVista (before Ascom TEMS Automatic) is a hardware-software complex for end-to-end testing of communication services.
Using a complex 'TEMS Automatic in combination with the TEMS FleetManager system, operators of networks and service providers can automatically hold end-to-end testing with maximum efficiency in any environment and in real time to keep track of results, without involving engineers to field measurements and data analysis.
The solution TEMS Automatic is developed for the solution of a wide range of tasks, including monitoring of service quality of communication and comparative benchmarking which are traditionally executed by engineers in the manual mode. The TEMS FleetManager application allows to automate accomplishment of such tasks and also to exercise remote control of the distributed measuring system modules from central node. Construction of modules allows to set them in buses, the taxi, trains and boats and also to place permanently in necessary places. The testing devices can be placed in trucks and vans of couriers for autonomous data collection in usage time of cars. At the same time management, data collection and updating of a system is performed in the automatic mode using TEMS FleetManager.

The updated hardware
- RTU8 — the new modular measuring instrument similar to RCU and MDU in the concept but which is providing the best performance and flexibility, and having more modern construction.
- The module of management RTU8 contains the device of unloading, the CPU, memory and the drive SSD, but does not contain information acquisition devices. For assembly of an optimal configuration of the measuring instrument, about 4 mobile modules containing test smartphones for data collection can be connected to the module of management. The telephone module RTU8 is controlled and powered from the module of management. Modules support work with the Samsung SM-G928F Edge+ smartphones.
Possibilities of creation of scripts on Python:
- TEMS Automatic 12 supports the scripts created in Python 3.5 and work with third-party applications and IDE. It allows to create the user solutions for adding of new KPI.
Controller of local Local Probe Controller 2.3 measuring instruments:
- The new LPC 2.3 controller allows users to manage and configure modules and devices and also test tasks directly in field conditions, in parallel with FleetManager remote control system.
Testing of Dropbox and Netflix:
- Dropbox testing function directly on the device (ODM) allows to check quality of work of basic functions — an input, loadings of files, downloadings and an exit from the account. Testing of Netflix supports transactions of an input, testing of a video flow and an exit from the account. Both types of testing are supported by the Samsung G900F, G900I, N910F and N910G smartphones. Metrics of new tests will help operators to understand whether their networks need service improvement and to guarantee the high level of quality of perception of communication services (QoE).
Unloading through Ethernet:
- The TRP and Trace files can be loaded via the module RTU5 or RCU LAN1 port. It provides a reliable and cost-efficient method of loading for static measuring instruments which do not load the tested network.
Support of the new equipment:
- RC S7 G930F — the new Samsung SM-G930F smartphone for testing of GSM, WCDMA and LTE networks, in the new ARC format. Includes a possibility of testing of data of Cat 9.
- ARC HTC M10 is the new version of the HTC M10 smartphone for testing of GSM, WCDMA and LTE networks in the new ARC format.
- ARC S6 Edge + G928F is the new version of the Samsung S6 Edge smartphone + for testing of GSM, WCDMA and LTE networks in the new ARC format.
- MDU S6 G920F is the new version of the module with the Samsung S6 G920F smartphone, for testing of GSM, WCDMA and LTE networks. Improvements include updating to the Android 6 (Marshmallow) operating system for support of the last applications.
- The ARC module the controller is used in combination with PSU (power supply unit) the power supply and allows to manage a power supply of smartphones.
- The switched PSU power supply is a power supply which is used in combination with the module of the automatic regulator of recovery of ARC.
- The relay of the controller of a power supply of RTU8 is used in combination with the external PSU power supply for ensuring control of power of the analyzer of radio networks of R&S TSMW.
ARC is control of power in the absence of the smartphone battery:
- The module ARC is the controller of automatic recovery. ARC represents the small controller used in combination with the PSU power supply for ensuring a power supply of the telephone set, excluding at the same time phone battery.
- It allows the module of management which uses connection "ARC phone", to switch on and off it. Thanks to it there is an opportunity to recover the "hung-up" tube due to cyclic inclusion of a power supply that allows to test more, without time expenditure on maintenance of the "hung-up" devices.
- Besides, at power supply directly on the handset with ARC, two often found problems are fixed: The wear of the battery — can lead to failure in operation of phone and delay testing while the rechargeable battery is recharged. Inflation of the battery — can create security risk and damage the accumulator.
- Thus, use of the module ARC significantly increases system operating time therefore testing becomes more complex.
- In addition, "ARC+ phone" uses own antennas therefore it does not require installation of external antennas, and allows to avoid the problems caused by their damage.
Now the modular TEMS RTU8 measuring instrument supports the R&S TSMW scanner with control of power:
- You can use the R&S TSMW scanner with the module of management of TEMS RTU8 and include/switch off the scanner using the relay controller of a power supply of RTU8 and the power source.
The solution Local Probe Controller for local management of the connected modules is improved:
- Now you can connect several modules to one local controller or the tablet PC, using the network router, for simplification of control and management — is individual or as a part of group. It allows you to work more effectively, to use several modules as easily as one, without the need for connection of everyone.
Management of ignition for RTU-5 and RCU:
- The solution for monitoring of ignition which guarantees that your testing system will be switched off properly when ignition of the car for the drive test is switched off. This solution will help to save battery power that the car for testing of network could begin if necessary again work, and guarantees that modules correctly complete the work and will not spoil results of measurements or other files.
TEMS Automatic 11.3 и 11.3.1
