2018: Sales of the portable dialysis systems for Tablo house began
At the end of August, 2018 the Outset Medical company submitted the portable dialysis Tablo system which as creators assume, can be used not only in hospital, but also at home.
A new dialysis system represents a combination of the software and the sensors allowing to automate the stages which were usually executed manually. A system independently purifies water, produces dialyzate and measures arterial blood pressure of the patient. To start work the Tablo system needs only connection to the power supply network and access to water. All information obtained by a system comes to the cloud database for processing and assessment by specialists. At the same time the device is distinguished by the compact sizes, it is supplied with wheels for simplification of transportation and can be used even by patients.
It is expected that by 2022 the market of dialysis will make $22.8 billion. Only in the USA dialysis is required to nearly half a million patients, and this number steadily grows. According to National fund of diseases of kidneys, in the world there are more than 2 million dialysis patients.
In August, 2018 in Outset Medical reported that the company attracted $132 million from Abu Dhabi Mubadala investment group and also her investors, including T. Rowe Price and Warburg Pincus. The senior vice president of pharmaceutical and medical technologies of Mubadala investment group Camilla Languille noted that they selected Outset Medical as the first private medical project for investments because of the potential of the dialysis Tablo system. This technology should improve considerably care of dialysis patients and to become one of the main sectors of medical care.
The equipment is approved for use in hospitals and is already used in organizations, and sales of a dialysis system to houses is planned later.[1]
