Tanais: Migrator from Euphrates in Directum

"Migrator from Euphrates in Directum" — technical solution which allows to transfer the saved-up archive of documents with all their properties from the E1 Euphrates system to Directum.

The tool in general implements transfer of the following information:

• the document card containing a set of its attributes;
• the files of different formats attached to a document card;
• reference books to which document card fields refer;
• information on business processes within which the document (sheets of approval) moved.
• folder structure of archive.

Principle of work

Migrator uses the principle of regularly started scenario ("agent") in EDMS Directum which finds the documents changed from the moment of the last start and transfers data from "E1 Euphrates" to Directum. If the changed document was already transferred, then all versions are updated. If the document was absent before, then in relevant EDMS is created new, containing all document revisions.

In EDMS Directum standard document types and types of cards for comparison of details to EDMS "E1 Euphrates" can be used, new can be created. The main condition is adding of the detail of "ID to Euphrates" on which a further inspection of the fact of transfer of the document is carried out.

In addition to comparison of details between flows in EDMS "E1 Euphrates" and the ED cards in EDMS Directum, the rule which will transfer authors of documents (for creation of folders of search) and also to flexibly appoint the rights on the basis of business processes of EDMS "E1 Euphrates" in which the document participated is configured.

Work with EDMS "E1 Euphrates" is conducted through direct SQL queries. Also means of the SQL server perform unloading of bodies of documents (binary data) in the temporary folder. In EDMS Directum documents are brought through an object model by means of the built-in IS-Builder language.

Example of the card of the document postponed from EDMS "E1 Euphrates". As it is possible to see, at transfer of the document also records of reference books are created.

Using this solution a number of projects on data transfer from the E1 Euphrates system in Directum was implemented. On the basis of the got experience in a system the opportunities useful at migration of large volumes of the saved-up data are implemented.
