Creation of an algorithm for recognition of COVID-19 according to KT-pictures

On June 11, 2020 it became known of creation by the Russian company "The Third Opinion" of a smart algorithm of the algorithm allowing to determine presence at the patient of a coronavirus of COVID-19 by the computer tomography (CT). The director of  a business activity and  marketing of Medsi Alla Kanunnikova told about this RIA Novosti.

We have a Third Opinion project  - it is a startup in  which we participate as  shareholders. Children made the algorithm allowing to determine by  a computer tomography,  the patient has COVID-19  or not, infectious pneumonia it  or not. They sat in  infectious diseases hospital and  analyzed pictures, directly on  a front line  — she reported.

Medsi invested in the project of development of AI for determination of a coronavirus according to the KT-picture

According to Kanunnikova, the new artificial intelligence technology by June 11, 2020 of technology prepares for registration after which it is going to be used in regions and also in projects with foreign partners.

The representative of Medsi also did not exclude increase in a share of the company in "The third opinion". Answering  an appropriate question, Kanunnikova told:

Yes, we will watch how  they will develop. We, of course, it is active their and  we develop, but  if it is required, we will  increase a share also. Everything depends on  economic feasibility, but  I  believe in them. I think that at  them everything will turn out.

The startup already offered earlier several technologies for the help in fight against COVID-19 coronavirus. In particular, the project of video monitoring of chambers with patients, based on recognition of specific events from a video flow and push-notifications of medical staff using Telegram bots is implemented. Such system of the company is already implemented in "ковид" - Medsi hospital in Moscow, and thanks to it the number of visits of physicians from a "net" zone in "dirty" and back decreased twice, declared in the company.^[1]

The presentation of the module of recognition of symptoms of viral pneumonia on X-ray pictures

The Third Opinion company, the resident of Skolkovo Foundation, within fight against a coronavirus of COVID-19 provided on April 20, 2020 the module of recognition of symptoms of viral pneumonia and also the automatic analyzer of blood. Implementation of developments is expected in the second quarter 2020.

The software module Third Opinion.Xray.Covid is developed for determination of symptoms of pneumonia on the basis of service "Third opinion.roentgenograms " which will recognize 15 radiological signs characteristic of different pathologies of bodies of a thorax. The module of the analysis of roentgenograms is already integrated into Uniform radiological information service of the city of Moscow and PACS "Kometa" with which more than 300 medical institutions in 26 regions of Russia and also in Kazakhstan work.

For the module "The Third Opinion.Xray.Covid" algorithms of artificial intelligence were doobuchena on x-ray researches of patients from COVID-19. Service in 30 seconds automatically detects presence of pneumofibrosis, pathology of the pulmonary drawing and also the symptoms characteristic of the complicated course of a disease.

Operational implementation of the module "The Third Opinion.Xray.Covid" in transmission systems and archivings of images (PACS) on the universal program interface of the application (API) of medical institution allows to accelerate processing of a big flow of x-rays, to increase the speed of the correct assessment of the revealed symptoms and also to increase diagnostics accuracy in regions with the shortage of medical staff. Embedding of service in workflow allows the doctor to pay attention to patients with aberrations at once, to create the conclusion and to accelerate routing of patients with symptoms of viral pneumonia.

Artificial intelligence technologies allow to automate routine processes in radiology, hematology and morphology, in nursing care for patients. The main effect from implementation of algorithms during a pandemic is decrease in load of physicians who work very hard today. At the same time health care systems cannot submit within short terms to the population a possibility of mass testing for presence of a viral infection, having separated flows into healthy and those who in risk group. In addition to the radiological module The Third Opinion company provided the automatic analyzer of blood – the software for sorting of analyses of patients. Within one minute digital analyses with signs of inflammatory reaction of the virus or bacterial nature it is automatically prioritized in the work list of the doctor.
