2021: Obtaining the registration certificate for the highest risk class

The Federal Service for Supervision in the Field of Health of the Russian Federation (Roszdravnadzor) began to register medical software with artificial intelligence for the highest risk class of the potential use of medical products. The first such registration certificate received the module "Third Opinion. Radiographs "for the analysis of X-ray and fluorographic images, developed by the startup" Platform "Third Opinion."

In addition to the Third Opinion module, the products that received the regulator's validation for the third risk class in late May and early June 2021 included the Care Mentor AI neural network system for diagnosing a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and the Cels program of Medical Screening Systems LLC.

Previously, the Webiomed system was the first Russian development in the field of artificial intelligence for healthcare, registered as a medical product. The system is trained to analyze various medical data of the patient, identify risk factors and suspicions of diseases, form forecasts based on them, containing a comprehensive assessment of the probability of developing various diseases and the patient's death from them.

For the development of the module "Third opinion. Radiographs "was spent several tens of millions of rubles. When training the AI system, a dataset of 1 million X-ray studies collected in 10 clinics was involved. The solution uses its own training methods, as well as a two-level neural network architecture for searching for state of the art pathologies.

Developers claim the accuracy of detection of pathological states at 94%. The program recognizes more than 15 features that allow a doctor to classify radiographs into more than 50 nosologies.

By the beginning of June 2021, the market value of the product "Third Opinion. Radiographs "is not voiced. Platform Third Opinion says that the final price will depend on various aspects.^[1]
