Toshiba a TLP series — a photorelay line.

Unlike mechanical relays, the photorelay have no physical contacts subject to wear and destruction and therefore considerably increase reliability level. Photorelays also have considerably smaller dimensions and allow to create more miniature and thin devices.

2018

TLP3122A

On June 22, 2018 the Toshiba Electronics Europe company provided the TLP3122A photorelay intended for automation systems of production and other industrial devices, including automation systems of buildings, security systems and the equipment for testing of semiconductor devices.

According to information provided in Toshiba company in the photorelay the MOS transistors manufactured using technology process of U-MOS IX for decrease in resistance in the included status are used. The TLP3122A photorelay is issued in the miniature SO6 body with 4 outputs, allows tension at the exit in silent state (VOFF) of 60 V, continuous current in the included status (ION) 1.4 A and a pulse current in the included status (IONP) up to 4.2 A. Standard resistance in the included status (RON) is only 0.13 Ohms, ensuring effective functioning, and current is equal in silent state to only 1 micro ampere.

The device has low values of switching time: 3 ms (tON, turn-on time) and 1 ms (tOFF, turn-off time). Insulation voltage is 3750 V (root mean square value). The photorelay is completely certified according to requirements of UL1577 standard for application in systems crucial in terms of security, emphasized in Toshiba.

The TLP3122A photorelay with a normally opened exit serves as a substitute of mechanical relays with one closing contact (1-Form-A) for the purpose of reliability augmentation of systems and economy of the space necessary for placement of the relay and their drivers. TLP3122A is expected work in the temperature range from-40 to 110 °C that allows to use it in industrial devices and to provide a temperature stock at thermal design at the level of a system.

The TLP3122A photorelay is directly compatible to the TLP3122 photorelay in traditional body 2.54SOP4. It also helps to lower a control current of a system that allows to use it as replacement of a broad spectrum of mechanical relays, noted in Toshiba.

Serial deliveries of the photorelay already began.

TLP176AM

On May 3, 2018 the Toshiba Electronics Europe company provided the photorelay in the compact SO6 body with 4 outputs for automation systems of production and other industrial devices, including the equipment for testing of semiconductor devices, a security system and automation of buildings.

In the TLP176AM photorelay the MOS transistors manufactured using modern technology process of U-MOS IX are used. Rated voltage contacts in the included status (VON) is at the weekend 60 V, and continuous current in the included status (ION) is equal 0.7 A with permissible value in a pulsed mode up to 2.1 A. Thanks to insulation voltage of 3.75 kV (root mean square value) the device has, according to the developer, the best resistance to electrostatic discharges in comparison with the issued TLP172AM. The TLP176AM photorelay is directly compatible to the former TLP172AM device both on characteristics, and on mounting dimensions, noted in Toshiba Electronics Europe.

As TLP176AM has a normally opened exit, it can be used for replacement of mechanical relays with one closing contact (1-Form-A). Replacement of mechanical relays by the photorelay increases reliability of systems and reduces necessary space for placement of the relay and their drivers, explained in the company. Thanks to the operating temperature range from-40 to 110 °C of photorelay of TLP176AM it can be used in the industrial systems and allows to provide a temperature stock at thermal design at the level of a system.

The photorelay has low values of switching time: 3 ms (tON, turn-on time) and 0.5 ms (tOFF, turn-off time). Insulation voltage is 3750 V (root mean square value). The device is issued in the compact SO6 body with 4 outputs and is certified according to requirements of UL1577 for application in systems crucial in terms of security, a podchernula in Toshiba Electronics Europe.

TLP3543A, TLP3545A, TLP3546A, TLP3556A и TLP3558A

On April 4, 2018 the Toshiba Electronics Europe company announced the beginning of deliveries of the photorelay with high load current in the DIP4 and DIP6 body. In these devices in assortment of the photorelay the MOS transistors manufactured using modern technology process of U-MOS VIII are used, noted in Toshiba.

In total five photorelays are provided: TLP3543A, TLP3545A, TLP3546A, TLP3556A and TLP3558A. They provide the range of different values of tension at the exit in silent state (VOFF) from 30 to 200 V and a steady-state current in the included status (ION) from 0.7 to 5.0 And (the highest value in the industry for devices in the DIP6 body, according to the statement of Toshiba). Low RON values (20 megohms for the device on 30 V) provide high efficiency of work. The maximum consumed current in silent state (IOFF) makes 1 micro ampere.

According to the producer, photorelays can replace mechanical relays with one closing contact (1-Form-A) in different devices of direct and alternating current, increasing reliability of systems and reducing the space necessary for placement of the relay and their drivers. Maximum operating temperature of the relay is 110 °C that allows to provide a temperature stock at design of systems.

The rated transient/pulse current in the photorelay which are switched on a status (IONP) exceeds a steady-state current in the included status three times that increases security of systems, noted in Toshiba.

According to representatives of the company of the developer, photorelays are mainly intended for secure systems and are capable to replace mechanical relays in a broad spectrum of devices of production automatic equipment and other industrial systems, including industrial equipment, automation systems of buildings, air ventilation and air conditioning systems, the equipment for testing of semiconductor devices, the automatic test equipment and security systems.

TLP3440S и TLP3475S

On March 23, 2018 the Toshiba Electronics Europe company provided two high-speed photorelays for signal transmission having, according to the developer, the minimum installation area in the industry.

TLP3475S has low standard resistance at the exit in the included status (RON), the equal 1.1 Ohms, and have low values of switching time: 0.5 ms (turn-on time) and 0.4 ms (turn-off time). Allowable voltage in the switched-off status (VOFF) is 60 V, and the maximum current is equal in the included status (ION) to 0.4 A. The device is issued in the S-VSON4 body the sizes only 2.00 mm x 1.45 mm x 1.65 mm.

TLP3440S is issued in the S-VSON4T body with the same installation area (2.00 mm x 1.45 mm), as at S-VSON4, but only 1.30 mm thick. TLP3440S has low RON (standard value of only 12.0 Ohms) and rated values of VOFF and max. current in the included status of ION of 40 V and 0.12 A respectively. Values of switching time are 0.2 ms (turn-on time) and 0.3 ms (turn-off time).

In the switched-off status both devices consume only 1 on (IOFF value). Ustanovochnaya Square of new photorelays is 22.5% less, than at the existing devices in the VSON4 body. According to representatives of Toshiba Electronics Europe, when sharing the device will help to reduce the sizes of printed circuit boards in any systems, including the equipment for tests of semiconductor devices and probe payments and also when replacing mechanical relays. They can be also used in high-speed lines of signal transmission in the gigahertz range.

Unlike standard photorelays with a maximum operating temperature of 85 °C, TLP3440S and TLP3475S devices can work in the range from-40 to 110 °C, thereby simplifying design of systems, in particular when developing of the industrial and other protected equipment, noted in Toshiba Electronics Europe.

TLP3145

On February 20, 2018 the Toshiba Electronics Europe company provided the photorelay in compact body 2.54SOP4 only 2.1 mm high with a step of outputs of 2.54 mm.

The TLP3145 photorelay is made using the most modern process of formation of a groove of U-MOS VIII MOS transistors and combines tension at the exit in silent state 200 In with a controlled current in the included status up to 0.4 A in a continuous duty or up to 1.2 A in pulse. Thanks to this TLP3145 it can be used for replacement of mechanical relays by 1 A, managing directors of alternating current circuits of 100 V.

Replacement of mechanical relays by the photorelay having the smaller sizes and not requiring drivers increases reliability of systems and allows to create more compact constructions. Operating temperature range of TLP3145 is from-40 to +110 °C that allows to provide easily a temperature stock at thermal design at the level of a system.

Turn-on time and shutdowns of TLP3145 makes only 0.5 ms (max.), and consumed current in silent state – 1 micro ampere. The device has insulation voltage of 1500 V (root mean square value) and is certified according to requirements of the standard of security of UL1577.

2017

TLP3407S и TLP3409S

The Toshiba Electronics Europe company announced on September 25, 2017 the beginning of production of two devices in a series of the photorelays released by the company: TLP3407S on 60 V and TLP3409S on 100 V.

Devices work at a high tension, saving possibilities of the existing TLP3406S on voltage of 30 V with high current abroach and the small sizes. High tension allows to use optocouplers in electric power supplies of devices (DPS), for example, in testers of the single-crystal systems requiring voltage variation for testing of automobile ICs.

TLP3407S allows currents up to 1 A and has the low resistance of RON (standard value of 0.2 Ohms), and for TLP3409S these parameters are 0.65 A and 0.4 Ohms (standard values). Both devices work at temperatures from-40 to +110 °C and have extremely low consumed current in silent state, equal 1 on, specified in Toshiba.

Photorelays are issued in the S-VSON4 body of 2.00 mm x 1.45 mm in size. According to the producer, the area of installation of the S-VSON4 body — is 22.5% less in comparison with the VSON4 body the sizes of 2.45 mm x 1.45 mm. Devices allow to optimize construction of measuring devices due to decrease in the amount of payments, increases in quantity of circuits of the relay and further increase in an integration scale.

Deliveries of serial batches of TLP3407S and TLP3409S already began.

TLP3823 и TLP3825

On September 13, 2017 the Toshiba Electronics Europe company announced the beginning of production of the photorelay for medium voltages with high current: TLP3823 on 100 V with load current 3 A and TLP3825 on 200 V with load current 1.5 A.

Devices complemented the range of the photorelay with high load current intended for replacement of mechanical relays where Toshiba TLP3547 relays on 60 V with load current 5 A are already provided. Toshiba supports and helps acceleration of replacement of mechanical relays, using modern technology of formation of a groove of UMOS MOS transistors of the 8th generation for achievement of the output currents exceeding 1 A.

The provided photorelays can be used in different spheres, including industrial equipment, inverters, the equipment for ventilation and air conditioning, automation systems of buildings and also the equipment for testing of semiconductor devices and other devices. Practically in all cases they will replace mechanical relays.

Both devices have insulation voltage of 2500 V (root mean square value) and have the low resistance abroach (standard values for TLP3823 and TLP3825 are 60 megohms and 250 megohms respectively). Short turn-on time and shutdowns allows to use the photorelay in the devices requiring high high-speed performance when switching. Required current of unlocking is lower 5 mA for both devices, and in the closed status a leakage current of devices less than 1 micro ampere.

Structures of Toshiba have the guaranteed pulse current abroach three times exceeding continuous current abroach thanks to what the additional stock of security at design is provided.

According to the producer, deliveries of serial batches of the TLP3823 and TLP3825 photorelay already began.
