2018: Glasses sales
In October, 2018 it became known of sale of the hi-tech bifocals developed by Mitsui Chemicals company. This gadget under the name TouchFocus can be used for looking at things in the distance and on a short distance, for example, during reading books.
Bifocals are created long ago, they allow to adapt sight to a different distance a join path of two types of lenses: upper is intended for a distance, lower — for a bliza.
Bifocals are useful to replace quickly in cases when it is necessary without hands, the movement of the head or a waste of time focusing of a view from a long distance with near. They are often used in the professional purposes by jewelers, programmers, for reading of the small text, controllers of defects, etc.
If normal bifocals have two types of lenses, then in TouchFocus switching the mode is performed by means of the touch button located on the right handle.
At activation of the sensor the liquid crystals placed in the lower half of points change the provision, leading to change of focus in the set area and allowing the carrier to see the objects which are in the distance from it. The repeated touch to the sensor returns a lens in initial provision.
Electronic "stuffing" of points eats from the rechargeable battery which needs to be charged via the USB connector. The producer claims that charging takes at most four hours, and battery life reaches 10 hours in a read mode.
It is remarkable that "smart" glasses can be bought without recipe of the ophthalmologist as they automatically adapt focal distance for sight of the specific person.[1]
TouchFocus can be purchased in Japan at the price of 250 thousand yens (about $2223 at the rate of for October 25, 2018). 20 different options of a frame are offered to buyers.
