2025: Recall of 2233 crossovers in Russia due to defective seats

The company clarified that the problem can aggravate the consequences of an accident.

According to Autonosti of the Day, the problem was found in cars sold on the Russian market from November 28, 2020 to April 21, 2023. The official start of the service campaign took place on March 3, 2025.

According to Rosstandart, crossovers that have fallen under the recall are equipped with separate folding seats of the second row in the 60/40 configuration. In the structure of the frame of these seats there is a middle crossbar of the back. The problem is that some points at the ends of the middle seat back plate on the 40% side do not meet the requirements of the UN ECE R.21 standard. EC by minimum radius.

Despite the fact that the middle plank, including the ends, is covered with foam, there is a danger to passengers in the rear seats. In the event of a collision where one part of the seat is retracted (60% or 40%) and the other is not, the passenger at the rear of the vehicle may be in contact with a middle frame bar made with an irregular end radius. This significantly increases the risk of injury in an accident.

As part of the announced campaign, all recalled copies of the Toyota Highlander will be subject to a free seat back frame adjustment. For car owners, it is possible to independently check whether their car falls under the recall campaign. This can be done according to the list of VIN numbers on the Rosstandart website by contacting the dealer directly or through a special service on the Auto.ru portal, where the department automatically transmits feedback data under the relevant agreement.[1]
