2025: Recall of 106,061 defective cars due to brake problems
On February 6, 2025, the Japanese company Toyota announced the recall of more than 100 thousand mid-size Tacoma pickups. These cars have a problem in the braking system, which can increase the risk of road accidents.
Defect is related to design features of brake hoses of rear wheels. Due to the accumulation of dirt during the operation of the vehicle, hose damage may occur, which will provoke a leak of brake fluid. This, in turn, will lead to a decrease in braking efficiency, which in certain conditions can cause an accident. There is no information about the incidents caused by this defect, as well as about the victims as of the recall date.
The issue affects the 2024-2025 Tacoma pickups in North America, Central and South America and other regions/countries. As noted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 106,061 cars are subject to recall in the United States alone. During the repair work, dealers will replace both rear brake hoses on pickups for free for motorists.
Earlier, it announced the recall of 2023-2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid cars, which also showed a defect in the braking system. Under certain conditions, there is incorrect operation of the emergency braking function, which can increase the distance required to stop the vehicle. This can cause an accident. The error affects the software of the electronic control unit, which is responsible for the behavior of the machine during skidding. In total, more than 42 thousand copies of the Corolla Cross Hybrid are subject to recall. To solve the problem, Toyota dealers will update the software of the specified control unit.[1]
