2018: The output of the server for data transfer of the companies in a cloud of Google

On November 13, 2018 Google Cloud Platform (GCP; the cloud division of Google) started the new server for the fast translation of corporate data in a cloud. The main difference from other services consists that the server is intended for clients from the European Union and should help them to move data, without violating at the same time the law which began to regulate preserving of confidentiality more strictly.

The solution was received by the name Transfer Appliance. It represents the server with high capacity intended for work with files with a capacity from 20 Tbyte or more. Usually loading process of such volume files takes week or even more, but Google claims that using Transfer Appliance similar transfer can be performed much quicker though does not disclose the exact speed which the new server allows to develop. Google notes that clients of GCP can quickly request all used documents through the management console.

At the first stage to clients it will be available to 100 of 200 Tbyte of storage, and the volume of cloud space further provided will be from 200 Tbyte to 480 Tbyte.

The company notes that the clients who connected Transfer Appliance will be able to move huge multimedia archives and bases of scientific data. First of all Google hopes to attract the companies which work with large data arrays – for example, of pictures from satellites or with audiofiles.

The application works with clusters of Apache Spark and Apache Hadoop on GCP using Cloud Dataproc which is urged to help developers to create quickly clusters, and then to delegate management of these clusters another. Developers consider that the used system will allow to implement Hadoop distributed file system in cloud space.[1]
